Mortgage Protection Srvs letterWhich company sent me this letter? I got another mortgage protection letter today. I'm starting to think one of the places I opted out of added me back to their mailing list.

Mortgage Protection Insurance
PO Box 9110
Franklin MA 02038-9933

MORTGAGE Protection
Insurance Services
6939 Sunrise Blvd
Citrus Heights CA 95610

This one was postmarked from Providence, RI with a return address in Citrus Heights, CA, and a business reply envelope to Franklin, MA. Why would you make it so difficult to make it possible for people to find out who you are and do some research about the product and company? It sure doesn't make them look like they're proud of their own product.

Besides, if I assume they sent one of these letters to everyone in the USA at $0.31 a piece, to only the estimated 5.1 million home sales in the next year, that's $1,581,000 of other letters. I wouldn't want to support this company bothering all those other people.

Here's an excerpt from the letter:

You are entitled to participate in an affordable Mortgage Protection Program which can protect your $000,000.00 Loan in case of an unexpected tragedy. Your family would still have to make your monthly mortgage payments without this type of plan from Mortgage protection Srvs. SEE BELOW - Plans can include a choice of Life and/or Disability benefits

Mr. & Mrs. Smith, your benefits can include:

  • Death - Pays off your $000,000.00 loan in the event of your death from Accidental or Natural Causes
  • Disability - Pays your Mortgage Loan payments if you become sick or injured & cannot work
  • Unemployment - Makes your premiums in case of job loss* (Available in most states)
  • Return of premiums - Returns your premiums if the benefits are not used by the end of the mortgage term
  • Knowing the Smith family would not lose their home no matter what tragedy

For complete details at no cost or obligation please complete and return this form in the enclosed postage paid envelope.

How do you really, really, for real opt-out of this stuff?

We have also gotten tons of these types of letters after refinancing our home. I don't mind getting legitimate solicitations from legitimate companies. But I'm never going to respond to a letter that has no company name or logo, no company phone number, and no legal disclaimers or licensing information, and it doesn't matter how many times you print the name and amount of the mortgage on the letter. Do you think we would ever trust a company to pay a claim if we don't even know the name of the company?

I wanted to let you know that from first hand experience your mortgage company will continue to sell your name and mortgage activity and there is nothing you can do to stop it because it is too lucrative for the mortgage co.. Even if you caught them red handed which is impossible to prove they would simply say oh my gosh so sorry, you must have slipped through the cracks!!
NOW, having said that... Listen to this...
I sell Insurance. And while mortgage protection is not my specialty I will tell you this... 80% of this country does not have enough life insurance if any to protect their families. For many people this is the only way to even get them engaged in a conversation involving insurance and in the end if even one family, one child is spared having to sell their home and move in the midst of the death of a spouse or parent.. YOUR VERY MINOR annoyance was sooooooooooooooooo worth it...
So my advice....
Quit whining , throw the dam thing away and get on with your life.... you have way too much time on your hands in the first place if your posting shit like this online anyway...
