I got a mortgage protection center letter in the mail today. The address on the business reply envelope was:
Mortgage Protection Center
PO Box 9001
Burlington, NC 27216-9925
How does this work? Does that go to National Agents Alliance (or a competitor?), an independent insurance agent that bought my public information, to a third-party mail processing center like a message service, or what? If I mailed it off, would it go to National Agents Alliance and then they sell a "hot" lead to an agent elsewhere?
The closest I can see to finding a company name anywhere on the communication is "above referenced Mortgage Life and Disability Insurance plan", "coverage information provided by Independent Life & Disability agents", and "representing A and A+ carriers offering specialized Mortgage Protection Products." They capitalized things like they're trademarked products or company names, but they really just appear to be generic terminology.

I just received a solitation and I called to ask where they got their information and they told me throujgh the county records. Then I ask them if that be the case how do I go about finding out where the county made such a big mistake about my home purchase. That through them for a loop. I paid cash for my home so there has or never will be a morgage. I told them that they needed to take me off the mailing list and that I was sending back their junk mail and I did along with a nice note in permant marker saying Do not contact me in any way and that this was being copied and sent to my attorney. I added a P.S. that stated that I dont need morgage protection because I don't have a mortagage to protect.
Print out a copy of their BBB report, put it in their envelope, and mail it back to them. Or-Google their officers, and if you find their info, send them letter after letter
Thanks for the infirmation... Looked hoky to me. No Name of Company ????
"Make copies of the envelope and mail them back. It's postage paid by permit #612. I'm only out the cost of a cheap envelope and a little ink. They're out the cost of the return postage. I just mail the empty envelopes. Lot's of them. Makes me feel better. ;-)"
Hahahahahahahaha!! That's hilarious. I just might do that.
I thought it was funny when I got this letter and the names were:
Misspelled middle name, last initial, first name & Wifes first name, wifes middle initial, misspelled wifes maiden name
Seriously, if you're going to try to scam someone, at least spell their names right so it's partially believable?
I have been on hold to the above phone # for approx. 15 minutes with no response. These mailings come every other day to my house........harrassment .
Yes i have the same situtation as well?
bing ole
its either an agent, insurance companyu or more commonly a marketing company since their is no insurance company listed is sending this information out to you. They will get your information from public records and there is no way of opting out of that even if you tell your mortgage company.
If you are interested in learning about getting a mortgage protection insurance then fill it out and they will match you with an agent, you can make your decission at this point. If you are not interested you are best off just throwing it away like any other junk mail.
Call them and try to sell them things, don't take no for an answer and just keep calling. When I stop getting the letters I'll stop trying to sell them things.

i open the envelope, remove their envelope, fold all to fit in the return envelope, seal and drop it in the mail. sometimes i include other peoples junk, too. makes me feel better....
I got this letter in the mail today addressed to someone who doesn't live at my house - i've owned my home for 5 years now. Any ideas if this is something to worry about ? Where are these mailing lists gathered from ? Any thoughts would help.
- Jaime.
the one I received was really OLD information - it was my firtst mortgage, which was re-financed 15 YEARS ago and paid off 2 months ago. The economy has gone down the drain, but at least I own my house
LOL they have some seriously old public records, my first lender sold my mortgage within the first 30 days SEVEN years ago. What a waste of paper
They're gathered from county public records. The insurance people hire a temp worker to go in to the county clerk's office with a laptop and transcribe house closing paperwork. It's possible it's a transcription error. Otherwise, I'd have identity theft in the back of my mind. Clark Howard, the syndicated radio money guy, has a decent ID theft guide:
http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/category/8/36/243/375/
and instructions on freezing your credit
http://clarkhoward.com/topics/credit_freeze_states.html
and if you don't want to go through all that, the official, government mandated free credit report site is at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/. You can get a copy of your credit report once a year from each agency. Some people stagger it and get one report from one agency every 4 months so they don't have to wait a whole year between ID theft checks.
(freecreditreport.com is owned by Experian, one of the credit reporting agencies)

All,
I used the above phone number:
1-800-263-2563 ext. 2255
I asked them to remove me from the mailing list and it worked correctly.

I am following up on this previous post.
I am still getting the "Attention: Important Final Notice" Print Mailings from this company... whoever they are.
I called AGAIN and told them to take me off their list.
Rena said that she submitted it to her supervisor, but who knows if that will do anything.
I liked someone's idea of mailing to them "please unsubscribe me" letters using their prepaid envelopes. I think I might try that for a while. Do you think 1 a day will make them stop?
Respects,

This might help, I called the toll free number at the top of the page (1-800-263-2563esxt. 2255) http://www.mortgageprotectioncenter.net/ and asked to be removed their mailing list. I can't say it's made a difference as I just hung up with them, but will let you know if it does or doesn't.
There are several competitors of NAA and they somehow have almost the exact same letter. Hmm I wonder where they got that idea from. And as far as when you mail a NAA letter back in it gets distributed to those of us in the field.
Any idea who i might contact at NAA? I work for a direct mail produciton company and would love to do some mail for them.
Thanks,
Dave
You can try and talk with one of the owners secretaries. If you call the main line I am sure that someone can patch you in. Though I do not know how interested they will be since they do all the mailing in house. With 1,600,000 - 1,800,000 letters going out a week I think they have things covered.
